My Pregnant Barbie, Barbie goes to WAR!

When I was a little girl. My Barbie was Pregnant.

Yes.

Image from Google

She was.

And I LOVED her so. I had other 'non-pregnant' Barbies of course, but I LOVED this Barbie so much, she gave birth with just a simple Twist of the Stomach. Hell, I wish it was that easy in Real Life!

Anyhooo...

I decided to 'PIN' this Barbie on Pinterest last week - take a look HERE, and Boy Oh Boy, was I unprepared for the reaction that followed...

270 Repins later....

I have started a BARBIE WAR.  Some of the comments are just ridiculously insane, let me entertain you for a minute or two.

Absurd Comment 1:  And why does Barbie need to have a csection?

Absurd Comment 2: now explain to your child how and why?

Absurd Comment 3: OMG I think if we would have had this barbie as children we would have never had sex!!!

Brilliant Comment 1: The people upset over this barbie are the same people who give their little girls fisher price kitchens to play in

Brilliant Comment 2: I don't know why people are saying they would never give this to their child. My daughter has seen a pregnant woman before.. She knows the baby is in the belly. It's not the baby is coming out of a hole in her vagina. My daughter thinks babies come through the belly button. I would buy those

Brilliant Comment 3: FINALLY some sense!! What about giving little boys guns to play with? Childbirth is natural.... The little girls are not looking at it from a sex point of view!

Personally, I NEVER thought about the Sexual Aspect of this Barbie, I was like 12 8 years old when I played Barbies... I just thought it was so cool that one minute she was pregnant, and the next, whoop! You had a baby. Sheer brilliance.

But it got me thinking.... maybe people DO get upset by this kind of thing. Well, obviously, judging from the comments I've had.

So, I'm opening up the shiny blog floor... YOU... What do YOU think of it? Is it such a big thing? Would you worry about the impact it would have on your daughter?

And oh... If you like it... put a pin on it.

Hello Viv!
I am a mid-30s SAHM from Wiltshire also know as @MelkshamMum.
In a  former life I was a primary school teacher but now my time is spent seeing to the needs of my 5 and 3 year old . My spare time - ha ha - is spent blogging, tweeting, baking, eating cake, trying to burn off the calories from the cake and learning to make things. I fail quite miserably at the 'making things' but with the Pinaddicts Challenge I intend to become a fantastic crafter!

The post in which I make you Jealous. Heston's Hidden Orange Cake appears.

So, We're casually drifting through the chaos that is Christmas Day, the kids are running round screaming and my sister casually pulls out this beauty...

Me: "Where the hell did you get that??"

Her: "Oh, M's had it in the back of the cupboard for AAAges. Do you know they are £350 on Ebay at the moment?" So Casual.

Me: (itching to sneak it into my bag and rush upstairs to start the bidding) " Really??! Wowza's, no ways! People have been waiting weeks to try and get one of these!"

Her: "Yeah, Whatever. Tomorrow it will only be worth a tenner."

So, I worked it out, 10 pieces (we like big pieces) is 35 quid a piece. That means each mouthful is worth, oh erm about a FIVER.  We preciously steamed it for 3 hours and VOILA! here it is in all its glory.

I won't even Tell you what my 11 year old daughter likened this picture to. It has to do with mommies being ready to push out babies.

And THAT. That right there. Spoiled my cake.

(For the record, the spoil didnt last long and I managed to stuff down 2 pieces. About a Tenners worth - Nom Nom)

I return from the depths of No Internet Land. If only for a short while.

Blog readers. Faithful Beautiful Blog Readers. I have had NO internet connection for TWO WHOLE weeks!!!  I have arisen from 'No Internet Land' for just a short few moments. It's a scary place. I'm stuck there until Tuesday. Woe is me.

My beautiful smartphone is seriously getting Overkill for reloading my Twitter page about 3000 times a day (seriously cannot believe Gary Barlow hasn't tweeted me back today!! Oh the shame ) & I haven't even had a chance to play over HERE on the Love All Blogs new site. Although I did submit my request for membership at One Am, on my phone, under the duvet...  like a secret spy - desperate to be let in on a secret!

I sorted out my camera too, so I leave you with a picture. Until we meet again. On Tuesday. 5 sleeps.

A cute little sprog I found here in No Internet Land. She's a keeper x
