She was.
And I LOVED her so. I had other 'non-pregnant' Barbies of course, but I LOVED this Barbie so much, she gave birth with just a simple Twist of the Stomach. Hell, I wish it was that easy in Real Life!
Anyhooo...
I decided to 'PIN' this Barbie on Pinterest last week - take a look HERE, and Boy Oh Boy, was I unprepared for the reaction that followed...
270 Repins later....
I have started a BARBIE WAR. Some of the comments are just ridiculously insane, let me entertain you for a minute or two.
Absurd Comment 1: And why does Barbie need to have a csection?
Absurd Comment 2: now explain to your child how and why?
Absurd Comment 3: OMG I think if we would have had this barbie as children we would have never had sex!!!
Brilliant Comment 1: The people upset over this barbie are the same people who give their little girls fisher price kitchens to play in
Brilliant Comment 2: I don't know why people are saying they would never give this to their child. My daughter has seen a pregnant woman before.. She knows the baby is in the belly. It's not the baby is coming out of a hole in her vagina. My daughter thinks babies come through the belly button. I would buy those
Brilliant Comment 3: FINALLY some sense!! What about giving little boys guns to play with? Childbirth is natural.... The little girls are not looking at it from a sex point of view!
Personally, I NEVER thought about the Sexual Aspect of this Barbie, I was like
But it got me thinking.... maybe people DO get upset by this kind of thing. Well, obviously, judging from the comments I've had.
So, I'm opening up the shiny blog floor... YOU... What do YOU think of it? Is it such a big thing? Would you worry about the impact it would have on your daughter?
And oh... If you like it... put a pin on it.
